Founder, MEND Canada & Train-X
Terry Sedgwick is the founder and co-owner of Train-X (California), which he established in 1995 out of a deep passion for the physical and mental health benefits of exercise. In 2023, he founded MEND Canada, a non-profit dedicated to increasing physical activity and sports participation among Indigenous youth. Terry is committed to helping individuals achieve their goals in a positive and creative environment, believing that fitness is not just a dream but a daily necessity.
Terry’s athletic background is extensive. He was a former member of Chilliwack RFC, the Fraser Valley U23, Fraser Valley U19 and U23 Senior Team, the British Columbia U23 team, and the UBC Varsity Rugby team, where he played for four years. He later competed with Melrose Rugby in Scotland before an injury led him to transition into triathlon. Terry went on to become a member of the Canadian Duathlon/Amateur Triathlon National Team and the Canadian National Professional Team for Triathlon/Duathlon.
In 1989, Terry graduated with a degree in physical education with minors in history, geography, and education from the University of British Columbia.
Terry firmly believes that sports and physical activity have the power to engage, inspire, and serve as a foundation for developing essential life skills.
